Event Details

We are very excited about 2009 as we had more than 250 attendees in 2007 and 500+ in 2008. Of course this event would not be possible with out our Benefactors, Sponsors and Hosts. Thank You!

FYI - There is no need to register children under 10.

For 2009: Due to construction on the site we used in 2007 - 2008 we have had to move the tent to the grassy area between Sunken Gardens and The University Center. This are is known as the Crim Dell Meadow to some alumni.

Photos from the 2007 & 2008 "96/06" W&M Homecoming Tent are available at www.9606.org. View prevoius attendee lists at: www.9606.eventbrite.com and www.9606-2008.eventbrite.com.

If you are going back to homecoming there will again be a great place to tailgate with fellow friends and alumni at the homecoming football game. For the fourth year, there will be a tent focused on graduates from 1985 to 1995 and next to this “85/95 Tent” for the third year, there will be a tent focused on graduates from 1996 to 2006 in which ‘07, '08 & '09 graduates are also welcome.

The best part of the event is the cost… Free! The cost of the event will be underwritten by the generous donations of time and money by alumni hosts and benefactors. This crucial support will allow us to provide a superior environment for mingling. Both tents are free and open to alumni and friends. You are welcome to stay for ten minutes or five hours! To learn more about both tents including becoming a class host or benefactor, please visit: www.8595.org or www.9606.org. IDs will be required & checked to enjoy alcoholic beverages.

This year's menu includes an assortment of food from Chick-fil-A, bread-ends & house from The Cheese Shop, assorted snack items, soda, water, beer, wine (from The Williamsburg Winery) & mimosas. This year we have again hired staff to help set-up, work and clean-up the event.

Both groups ("85/95" & "96/06") are separately managed and funded, however working together in the planning process The “8595” and “9606” Homecoming Tents are also not officially part of the W&M Society of the Alumni; however we have been in close contact with the Alumni House to make sure we can work together on this venture. This grassroots effort is designed to give a place for any W&M alumni, specially the non-reunion years. A place to mingle, tailgate and enjoy watching some great Tribe football.

Since we do not charge admission, there is no need for us to bounce people or allot food or beverages. This keeps things simple and hospitable. Tent Benefactors make this arrangement possible. In addition to their host commitments, Tent Benefactors also contribute funds or make in-kind donations that defray the cost of the event.

2009 "96/06" Benefactor Honor Roll

We would not be able to cover the $5000+  it cost to run the 2009 "96/06" event without the generous donations of the following individuals and organizations.
We also will take day-of donations (cash/check) which will help out tremendously.
